Twist is held in the beautiful ballroom and galleries of the Northampton Center for the Arts. The Center is located on the third floor of the Sullivan Square building, 17 New South St., Northampton, MA. Sullivan Square is a yellow brick building on the southwest corner of the intersection of New South St. (Rte. 10) and Main St.
Notable (current and former) residents of the area include authors Augusten Burroughs, Tracy Kidder and Kurt Vonnegut, musicians Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, and actress Uma Thurman. It's also the birthplace of the Graham Cracker and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Northampton's vibrant downtown is chock full of great shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee houses. It is home to the summer stock New Century Theatre and there are a slew of performance venues such as the Iron Horse, the Calvin Theatre and Pearl Street Nightclub, that feature indie bands as well as bigtime headliners. If you're coming to town and want some suggestions for food or fun, just give us a shout. We're happy to recommend some great options. Many of our event sponsors are in Northampton. Be sure to support them! |
